The Emblem
Our Emblem, The skylark is truly and powerfully representative of freedom inspiration, hope and joy, To us, the skylark is representative of the five outcomes of education at the Skylark World School, Hence the name of the school.
The migration of Skylark is representative of our quest for knowledge, a better environment and excellence.
The Skylark, an early riser, is representative of the proverbs “early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise” and “Make hay while the sun shines “. It emphasizes discipline, punctuality and readiness to leverage opportunities.
A male skylark starts up suddenly from the ground, goes up high in the sky—50 to 100 meters—and hovers there for a few minutes, then plummets down to land on the ground. And all this time he is singing:
He rises so high that he may be scarcely visible, while he stays aloft, he plunges to the earth again. To us, this flight of the skylark is representative of aspirations to rise with awareness of ground realities, resolve to overcome difficulties and readiness to grasp opportunities – i.e., aim for the skies but be grounded. It also symbolizes our motto of “Dare to Soar”.
Unlike most perching birds, the male Skylark sings in flight and its song, symbolizes ultimate joy. The skylark bird song is one of the most complex of all. The songs are composed of ‘syllables’, consecutive sounds produced in a complex way, with almost no repetition. The male skylark can sing more than 300 different syllables, and each individual bird’s song is slightly different. To us, the skylark bird song is representative of the Joy of learning, development of communication skills and respect for individuality.
